Holly B. Phelan Johnson

As an art history major, Holly has always found joy in all aspects of art, not just looking at it or analyzing it, but making it as well. She has always encouraged her family & friends to test the waters of creating, to not be afraid of making a mistake, because the beauty in creating is, there are no mistakes. With an interest in a variety of mediums, she has been making art for years and teaching those around her. So the idea of a shared art experience for all to enjoy came out of that, and HappymessArt was born. She welcomes you to join in this experience.

Christy Holton

Christy is a Durham native, who loves to paint all kinds of landscapes and specializes in pet portraits. She received her degree in Art Education from North Carolina Central University.  Her work can be found in private residences all over Durham and beyond. She loves gardening, hiking, and portraying the art found in the natural world: plants and trees, people, and animals.

Sarah Ashby

Sarah received her B.F.A in Digital Design. After 9 years of working as a Web and Graphic Designer she is following her true passion as a visual artist, working predominately in acrylics. Inspired by the unknown unfolding and The Great Cosmic journey we are all taking together, her mission as an artist is to portray the sacredness and absurdity of consciousness and the opulence found in that truth!

Libby Lynn is a full-time working artist in Durham, NC. She is certified in Encaustic and Acrylic painting by Penland School of Crafts.

Morgan Riker

I received my Bachelors of Fine Art from The University of Tulsa in 2008. I have spent the last 7 years teaching kids from the ages of 1-15, and most of that was spent in art education. During that time I also earned my K-12 Art license. I'm not happy or fulfilled if I'm not spending a large chunk of my time loving on kids! In my personal time I love spending time with ceramics, jewelry making, screen printing, photography, and anything that lets me play outside!

Rowena Bowman

Rowena grew up in New Orleans, steeped in an environment where it seems nearly everyone has talent and opportunity to express it.  After earning a BA in the commercial arts, she worked in graphic design, photography, film and video.  Her MEd in communications plus experience in theatre for children led to children’s radio and TV projects. She loves to be surrounded by kids who are exploring art, language & life. Her approach—”All learning comes from what we experience. The more ways to experience something, the more vivid, lasting and valuable the learning. So let’s dive in!”

Jesa Rae Richards

Jesa Rae Richards is a visual artist and arts educator. She received her BFA in Fine Art from Columbia College Chicago with a focus on painting and drawing. Her current work spans from live public animated murals to quirky comics and intricate paintings of imaginary beasts. In her practice as a teacher and as an artist, Jesa Rae believes that art flourishes when skill and knowledge are cultivated alongside experimentation and playful abandon.

Josh Buczynski

Josh Buczynski is a graphic artist who took his love of building-toys and turned it into an innovative, glue-less paper toy system called "Poplocks". Children can ignite their imaginations making almost anything with a set of simple shapes, or they can assemble and decorate fun characters with moving eyes, mouths and much more.  Poplocks are perfect for birthday parties, seasonal craft and experiencing 3D toy design. Poplocks can be used to make flying toys, paper dolls, transforming robots, dinosaurs, puppets and are well-suited for simple animation and certainly help children with spatial improvement and even some engineering principles. More advanced students of design can be led from start-to-finish creating their own unique Poplocks parts designs as well as full, custom creations.  Josh is working to bring Poplocks to more audiences - shows/events, education, retail toy kits, and is happy to provide free patterns on his website for people to print and cut out at www.paperposeables.com.
